PUNE, April 28: Residents of a housing society in Nigdi-Pradhikaran learnt the hard way that damaged drainage lines which prove a health hazard to residents of other housing societies need to be repaired immediately or it could invite an extreme penalty of doing without the essential requirement of water supply.

Since the last four days, residents of Sweety Apartments in Nigdi had to go without water as the municipal corporation cut off the supply because of its failure to repair the drainage lines. During the last month, residents had to face the hardships for at least four times ever since they received a notice from the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation that water connection would be cut if repairs to the drainage lines were not undertaken immediately.

The Shilpa Housing Society nearby had made a complaint with the civic authorities in August last that the damaged drainage line from Sweety Apartments caused a health hazard as drainage water came into the premises of their society.
