Mishap
Bilaspur: Manoj Kumar, 18, a student of local post-graduate college was killed yesterday when his scooter collided with a truck, coming from the opposite side. He was coming towards Bilaspur from Ghahgus and was reportedly trying to overtake a truck when the mishap occurred. Tragically, the victim8217;s brother8217;s marriage was scheduled for today.
Procession
Nahan: Local Congressmen led by MLA Kush Parmar took out a procession in the town to protest against the price rise. Later, they presented a memorandum to deputy commissioner, Sirmaur, to forward the same to state Chief Minister P.K. Dhumal.
Camp
Nahan: The Nahan branch of State Bank of India organised a free dental check-up camp in the bank premises today. Dr. Rajiv and Dr. H.K. Pant rendered services during the camp.
Workshop
Nahan: NSS volunteers of Girls Senior Secondary School here organised a workshop under a campaign to find means to sensitise people towards the importance of clean water. About 75 volunteers participated in the workshop which was sponsored by Union Ministry of Environment and Forestry. A survey done by senior class students revealed that water used by the people this town contained high calcium contents. They advocated the use of boiled water. K.S. Negi, NSS officer, asked the volunteers to arrange Mohalla-wise demonstrations in this regard.

Bilaspur: The diesel pump installed by the Bilaspur Tuck Operators Cooperative Society at Barmana started functioning from yesterday. This was stated by president of society Jagdish Sankhyan while talking to media persons here yesterday. The pump was allotted to the society way back in 1994. Diesel would only be supplied to the society8217;s members on cheaper rates, Sankhyan said. Himachal Health minister J.P. Nadda was present on the occasion.

Kullu: Shiv Chand Thakur, general-secretary of Manali block of Himachal Pradesh Non-Gazetted Officers8217; Federation in a press statement issued here has welcomed the election of Ganga Singh Thakur as the president of HP Non-gazetted Officers Federation. He expressed hope that Thakur would watch the interests of the government employees in the state.
Transferred
Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Government today transferred half-a-dozen senior officials of the Public Relations Department, including District Public Relations Officers DPROs at Dharamshala and Nahan. Jagbir Singha, deputy director at Shimla has been transferred and posted as deputy director-cum-liason officer at Jalandhar vice K. P. Kaushik, who returns to Shimla. Satish Dhar, press liaison officer at Delhi, has been transferred as DPRO Dharamsala vice P. H. S. Malani. Malani will join as information officer in the Directorate of Public Relations, Shimla.
Dharminder Thakur, information officer at the Directorate of Public Relations on transfer has been posted as DPRO Sirmaur at Nahan vice Girdhari Lal Mahajan, who on transfer goes to Delhi as press liaison officer in place of Satish Dhar.
