Moga: The managements of all the 500 government aided private schools have closed their institutions for indefinite period as 10,000 teachers working in these aided schools went on indefinite strike Saturday. All the teachers yesterday observed stay-in-strike. Stating this here today, general secretary Manohar Lal Chopra and president Teja Singh of the aided private schools said that the state body had decided to continue their agitation which included traffic jam, gherao of ministers and demonstrations and processions daily at every district headquarter. They said that their agitation would continue till their already accepted demanded were implemented by the government. They also disclosed that teachers would now court arrests at district headquarters every day throughout the state if the state government failed to implement the demands accepted by the education minister and finance minister respectively in 1997 and 1998.

Mishaps
Shimla: Two people were killed and two others were injured when the tempo they were travelling in rolled down into a deep gorge near Fagu in Shimla district last night. The vehicle was on its way to Rampur. The deceased were being identified and the injured have been admitted to hospital.

Palampur: A 38-year-old woman was crushed to death by a speeding TRUCK AT Tanda village near here yesterday. She was rushed to Palampur Civil Hospital and later taken to Rajinder Prasad Medical College, Tanda where she succumbed to her injuries. A case has been registered against the driver of the truck, who was later arrested. The truck has been impounded. The body of the deceased was handed over to the family members after post-mortem.

Nahan: One person died on the spot and 12 were injured seriously when a private bus HP-17-4485 rolled into a khud near Dosarka, about 9 km from here last evening. The bus was coming from Shimla. The deceased has not been identified yet. In another accident at Badaripur Paonta, a 16-year-old youth Kamal Arora was crushed to death by a truck when was returning home from tuition on scooter. The driver of the truck has been arrested.
