Other explosives weighing 6.5 kg, two pieces each of remote devices and explosive connectors, six pieces of detonators with wire were also recovered from inside a wooden chest in the bus, they said.

The information about the haul was delayed in the interest of the investigations, they added.

Two pieces of electronic detonators without wire, two pieces of switch were also recovered from the chest recovered from the bus during routine check at Jorabat Tiniali, the officials said.

No one has claimed possession of the chest, they said, adding no arrest has beenmade so far and investigations are on.

Security has been beefed up in the area and checking intensified following the incident to detect further consignments of explosives through the route, the officials added.

Meanwhile, a hardcore ULFA leader was killed in an encounter with the Army at Ghograpar in lower Assam8217;s Nalbari district on Monday as violence continued unabated in Assam, official sources said.

Joycharan Barman alias Prakash Barman, deputy commandant of Manah Anchalik Parishad of the banned outfit, was killed by the Army when he opened fire after being asked to halt by patrolling defence personnel who spotted him on a railway bridge over Nona river.

A 9 mm pistol and some documents were recovered from his possession, the sources added.
