Ramanathan named new finance secy

Arun Ramanathan, a 1973-batch Tamil Nadu cadre IAS officer, was named the new finance secretary today. Ramanathan, currently posted as Department of Financial services secretary, succeeds D Subba Rao, who becomes RBI Governor.

Prior to this, Ramanathan had served as secretary in the Chemical and Fertilisers ministry. Throughout his career, he has held positions at various levels, mostly in Tamil Nadu state government8217;s Finance and Industries departments.
