The latest spell of rains has not been enough to assuage the drinking water woes, especially of the milch animals in the Abadasa and Lakhapat talukas of Kutch.

8220;The rains have not been enough to meet the drinking water requirements of our animals,8221; said Satish Thackar, sarpanch of Nalia.

Vishwanath Joshi, a leading social worker and local journalist of Lakhapat said that while the farmers in his taluka were happy, the maldharis were worried because the dams and ponds in the taluka have not received much water.

Resident Deputy Collector Mahesh Dave said that the rains have definitely brought the much needed succour to the state. Abadasa and Lakhapat talukas have not been as lucky as the other 8 talukas, but they still have received generous showers, Dave said.
