
VADODARA, June 28: Rail and air traffic between Vadodara and Mumbai were severely affected following heavy rains in Mumbai over the past 24 hours See box for delayed/cancelled trains.
Indian Airlines, Gujarat Airways and Jet Airways flights from Mumbai to Vadodara have been disrupted or delayed by at least an hour since Saturday. Though there was no Gujarat Airways flight on Sunday, the Jet Airways evening flight, which was scheduled to arrive here at 6.50 p.m., was delayed by at least two hours because of the bad weather at Mumbai.
Likewise, the Indian Airlines evening Mumbai-Vadodara-Mumbai flight, which is supposed to land here at 6 p.m., was cancelled in Mumbai because of the bad weather, it was officially announced.
Meanwhile, scanty showers brought relief to various parts of Vadodara district in the past 24 hours. While Vadodara city received 3.2 mm of rainfall till 8.30 a.m. on Sunday, scanty or moderate rains have been forecast in some parts of Central Gujarat in the next 48 hours. According to the weather office in Gandhinagar, heavy rains are likely to occur in various parts of Kutch, Saurashtra and north and South Gujarat, besides Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu.
