Russia sending T-90 tanks

MOSCOW: A Batch of T-90 tanks is to be shipped to India next month for intensive testing to allow the Indian military to decide which variant best suits their needs, according to a report today. Three variants of the advanced tank will be tested in desert and other difficult conditions to decide which best suits local conditions. Russia hopes that India will purchase up to 300 T-90 tanks.

Historic race

Chennai: Twenty three-year-old Narain Karthikeyan became the first Indian to win a Formula-3 race when he recorded a historic win in the Round 5 of the Autosport British Formula-3 championship at the Brands Hatch circuit on Sunday.

Adhikari dead

KATHMANDU: Former prime minister and chairman of the Nepal communist party-united Marxist and Leninist (NCP-UML), Man Mohan Adhikari, died early today aged 78, hospital officials said. Adhikari suffered a massive heart attack on April 20, collapsing while campaigning for May general elections, had been in a coma at Tribhuvan University teaching hospital.
