French honour for Adoor
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
Cinematheque Francaise, the French cinematheque in Paris, will honour noted film maker Adoor Gopalakrishnan by putting together a retrospective of his works, including his eight feature films from Swayamvaram to Kathapurushan and a couple of documentaries. The event will open on November 3 in Paris.

Dahanukar dead
MUMBAI:
Noted industrialist and an authority on sugar factories, Dadasaheb Dahanukar alias DM died of old age at his Malabar Hill residence on Saturday. He was 88 and is survived by wife Malti, son Arun and daughter-in-law Sharadini Dahanukar.

Actress8217; abduction
LUDHIANA:
Five unidentified men, including two wearing police uniform, on Saturday made an unsuccessful attempt to abduct Bollywood actress Mamta Kulkarni from a hotel here. Mamta was in Ludhiana to perform for a star nite on Saturday at Lodhi Club.

Dahisar murder
MUMBAI:
A Chinese food stall owner at Chunabhatti in Dahisar East, was shot dead byunidentified persons on Saturday. Narayan Vasant Poojari 28, who ran a stall close to Hotel Sidewalk, was shot dead at 8.15 pm. Police said the murder could be a fallout of disputes over a piece of land.
