Girl set afire

JALGAON: In a bizzare incident, three youths doused a college girl with kerosene and set her ablaze at Bodvad in Jalgaon district on Monday. The incident occurred when three unidentified youths, accosted Sarika and told her that her professor wanted to see her. When she refused to accompany them, they poured kerosene on her and set her afire.

Coimbatore blasts

COIMBATORE: Zakir Hussain, one of the key accused in the serial bomb blasts here in February 1998, and one of his close associates, Siddiq Ali, were arrested on Tuesday at Madurai.

Peddlers freed

SURAT: Three alleged drug-peddlers, including two from Mumbai, were acquitted for want of evidence by the additional district sessions judge here on Tuesday. The trio were held on June 18, 1994 with heroin worth Rs 1.50 crore.
