Literary awards
Mahatma Phule, Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Granth Puraskar Ani Vichar Prasarak Sanstha has selected Prof Sudhir Gavhane8217;s Marathi book, Namantar Ladha 8211; Ek Shodh Yatra8217; for its first literary award. Dr Ashok Erande8217;s Satyashodhak 8211; Mukundrao Patil8217; has been selected for the second award.
The awards will be presented by Dr Uttamrao Bhoite, vice-chancellor of Bharati Vidyapeeth, at a function to be held at Bharat Itihas Sanshodhan Mandal at 5 p.m. on May 23. Dr Sandanshiv, a retired member of the Law Commission, will speak on Indian constitution and presidential system8217;.
Seminar
A Seminar on Trade in telecommunication8217; was recently organised by Pune Telecom on the occasion of the world telecommunication. The speakers included Prof S V Kharkar and Dr V Nagarajan, chairman and managing director of Andro Media Communication. Pune Telecom general manager R V Datar spoke on the developmental aspects of Pune Telecom. S Gopalkrishnan, principal general manager, also spoke.
Award for drivers

Essay contest
The department of atomic energy has sought entries from college and university students for its essay contest on the theme of Nuclear power generation and radioisotope applications in India8217; and technological spin offs of atomic energy in India8217;. The essay should be in any Indian language or in English not exceeding 2,500 words. The first topic is open to only undergraduate students. The second topic is open even to post-graduate students. Essays should reach the publicity division of department of atomic energy, CSM Marg, Mumbai 400 039 before August 30.
