Anna donates Rs 5000 from his pension
Kisan B Hazare, popularly known as Anna Hazare, remembered his comrades in arms from his days as a soldier as he donated Rs 5000 from his pension to the War Memorial fund recently.
Much before he started off his battles against corruption he was a soldier. Serving as a driver with the Army Services Corps then known as the Supply Corps and saw action in the 1965 conflict with Pakistan.
So it was an Anna who visited the memorial just before his fast at Alandi. Glancing through the names he recognised those of his comrades, people he had served with. Moved by the memorial, the first of its kind in Asia, Anna donated his pension for three months to the War Memorial fund.
