I N an obvious dig at you-know-who, the Maharashtra Rajya Christian Sanghatana has appealed to churches and 8220;mandals8221; to 8220;avoid traffic obstruction and put off loud speakers after 10.30 p.m. to prevent noise pollution during the celebration of Christmas festival8221;.

The appeal was made today by Elias Ghodke, president of the sanghatana in a statement.

The sanghatana has also organised a 8220;crib competition8221; on the occasion of the forthcoming Christmas festival. The contest is open to all Christian churches and various mandals celebrating the festival. There is no entry fee. The juries8217; panel will visit the sites of the contestants. Entry forms should be collected from Ghodke at 372 Mangalwar Peth, PMC vegetable market, Pune-11, telephone no. 628672.

SSC, HSC results
Dipti Bhalchandra Bhide of Seth Dagduram Katariya Vidyalaya, Pune has topped the Pune division in the SSC examination conducted by the Pune Divisional Board in October with 78.80 percent marks. The results of October SSC and HSC examiation were declared by the board today. 12.97 percent students were declared successful in HSC where as the passing percentage for SSC was at 20.57 per cent.

In the HSC results, Kanchan Chandrakant Vishwarpure of Shri Shivaji College, Barshi stood first in the science stream with 70.50 per cent marks. Ashutosh Chandrashekhar Date of M.E.S. College, Pune topped the commerce stream with 74.00 per cent and Somnath Nana Kale of Shriram Bahusaheb Jhadbuke College, Barshi was first in arts stream with 73.17 per cent marks. Of the total number of 19,890 students who had appeared for the HSC exam, 2,579 have passed. On the other hand 12,931 students out of 66,902 who appeared for SSC exam in October, were declared successful.
