Trio thrash man to death
Three youths residing near Bhairoba Nala murdered Arun Shamrao Gaikwad, a 35-year-old man from Vikasnagar area in Ghorpadi, in a savage manner following a squabble on Monday evening.

Gaikwad8217;s friend, Ramesh Shankar Yadav, an eye-witness to the murder, had lodged a First Information Report FIR at the Wanowrie police station naming the alleged killers as Rahul Vinayak alias Balu Shelar, Pravin Shivaji alias Bandu Kawade and Vijay Sharma Pillai.

The FIR stated that Arun and Ramesh were walking in Dhobalwadi area on Sunday evening when the incident took place. A heated argument ensued between Arun and the trio after their Bajaj M-80 dashed against him. The enraged trio allegedly beat up Arun till he died. They also thrashed up Ramesh when he attempted to rescue Arun, Ramesh said in his FIR. Meanwhile, the Wanowrie police have launched a search for the trio.

Water closure
The evening water supply to the entire city will remain closed on Wednesday for some urgent maintenance work of Mutha right bank canal.

Additional city engineer water supply V G Dhadphale has said in a press statement that the maintenance work, which was scheduled to be carried out today, had to be postponed because of some technical reasons. He has said the same work would be carried out on Wednesday.
