
Chandigarh, March 16: The students of the Punjab University campus observed a partial strike today to protest the proposed hike in fee. The strike call was given by the local units of the Haryana Students Association HSA, National Students8217; Union of India NSUI and the Panjab University Students8217; Union PUSU.
Meanwhile, HSA president Bhupinder Singh Bhuppi, general secretary Sanjay Singh were joined in by PUSU president Lakhjeet Singh in their indefinite hunger strike that began today outside the office of the Vice-Chancellor to press for the withdrawal of the proposed hike.
The PUSU office-bearers, in a press release alleged that the departmental representatives of the Department of Laws were assaulted and threatened by the activists of a rival students8217; organisation. PU Chief Security Officer Sita Ram admitted that he had received a complaint in this regard.
