VADODARA, Nov 30: Special Inspector General (Police Training and Armed Units), Gujarat, G C Raiger, on Monday urged the police personnel manning police stations and chowkies not to be rigid but flexible, within the limits of law, while dealing with problems relating to women and children.Delivering his speech at the passing out parade and valedictory function of batch number 240 of the Police Training School (PTS) here on Monday, he said British rulers used police to suppress people to perpetuate their rule and hence had segregated the police and not allowed free mixing with the masses.Underlying the need for new recruits in the force to bring about a change in their mental attitude vis-a-vis their relationship with the members of the public and behave politely with them, he said the police must help solve the problems of people to improve the image of the police.He also asked the fresh recruits to be sensitive to human rights of the public in their day to day dealing with the public.In his address, PTS principal H C Solanki said training was an unending process and recruits must continue to learn even after they are posted at police stations. While school vice-principal H M Saiyed expressed thanks to the guests, among others, special Inspector General of Police, Vadodara range, D D Tuteja, Deputy Commissioners of Police Mohan Jha and Meera Ramnivas, and District Superintendent of Police (Vadodara rural) Shamsher Singh, Special Reserve Police (SRP) commandants L H Nathani and H S Desai attended the function.
