UK doesn8217;t feel Pak govt was involved in 26/11

Britain agreed that LeT is behind the attacks and underlined that Pak has the 'fundamental' responsibility to target LeT's 'roots'.

Britain on Tuesday differed with India8217;s view that Pakistan8217;s official agencies could have had a role in Mumbai attacks even as it underlined that Islamabad has the 8220;fundamental8221; responsibility to target the 8220;roots8221; of Lashkar-e-Taiba LeT which was behind the terror strike.

India hoped that Pakistan would hand over the 8220;fugitives of Indian law8221;,notwithstanding Islamabad8217;s refusal to do so,and asked the world community to build pressure on Pakistan in a 8220;concerted8221; manner to ensure that perpetrators of the Mumbai attacks are brought to justice.

External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee,who held 8220;exhaustive8221; talks with his British counterpart David Miliband,apprised him of details of the Mumbai attacks and its links in Pakistan.

8220;It is clear where the responsibility lies for Mumbai attacks,it is with the LeT,8221; Miliband said at a joint press conference with Mukherjee after their talks.

8220;Pakistan government,Pakistani state has the primary responsibility,fundamental responsibility to tackle the roots of this organisation,8221; the British Foreign Minister said.

On Prime Minister Manmohan Singh8217;s view that official agencies of Pakistan could have been involved in the Mumbai strikes,Miliband said 8220;we do not believe the attacks were directed by Pakistani state8221;.

He,however,said it is important to see what is the 8220;approach of Pakistani state towards LeT organisation and the way Pakistani state takes on the LeT.8221;
