Turkish couple exchanges wedding vows via Twitter and iPad

The couple later inked their intentions the old-fashioned way,using a pen for signing a formal marriage certificate.

A Turkish couple has shown that it needs far less than 140 characters to express eternal love for each other,after exchanging wedding vows via Twitter and iPad.

Cengizhan Celik,the Groom,and his bride Candan Canik got married by tweeting the Turkish word 8220;Evet,8221; or 8220;Yes,8221; on their iPads.

Their officiant Mustafa Kara,a local mayor,had prompted them before to say 8220;I do8221; with a tweet,the 8216;New York Daily News8217; reported.

Celik is a social media editor for the news website ensonhaber.com,and reportedly told the site that he and his bride incorporated the microblogging site into the wedding,as they wanted 8220;a little surprise.8221;

In a video of the ceremony posted on the groom8217;s news site,the couple can be seen typing out their tweets and holding up their iPad8217;s,as cameras go crazy.

Celik live-tweeted the marriage proceedings in Turkish,posting 8220;Let the fun begin8221; before updating his account with a series of tweets throughout the day.

As word of their story spread,he retweeted his followers8217; well wishes.

8220;Turkey8217;s first wedding 8230; on Twitter,8221; read one of the messages that Celik retweeted.

Meanwhile,his wife has only posted one message on her Twitter account 8211; 8220;I do.8221;
