Sushil to lead Indian team in World Wrestling championship

Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna awardee Sushil Kumar will spearhead a 17-member Indian team in the World Wrestling Championship in Herning in Denmark.

Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna awardee Sushil Kumar will spearhead a 17-member Indian team in the World Wrestling Championship in Herning,Denmark next month.

The Olympics bronze medallist will participate in the 66kg freestyle category in the event to be held from September 20-27.

Apart from Sushil,Balraj Singh (55kg),Hardeep Singh (60kg),Ramesh Kumar (74kg),Anil Mann (96kg) and Joginder Kumar are the other grapplers who will represent India in the freestyle category.

In the Greco-Roman style,Rajender Kumar (55kg),Ravinder Singh (60kg),Sunil Kumar (66kg),Anil Kumar (96kg) and Dharmender Dalal will lead the country’s challenge.

Meanwhile,Arjuna awardee Alka Tomar (59kg) will lead India’s six-member female contingent in the World Championship.

Other wrestlers in the female category are Nirmal Devi (48kg),Babita (51kg),Suman Kundu (63kg),Geetika Jakhar (67kg),Gursharanpreet Kaur (72kg).
