Somdev aims for a doubles treat

Somdev Devvarman and Treat Huey Conrad, former University of Virginia mates, are aiming to make their first appearance as a pair at a major event.

For Somdev Devvarman and Treat Huey Conrad, former University of Virginia mates who often used to pair-up at the college level and pro-circuit,beating top seeds Tomasz Bednarek and Mateusz Kowalczyk of Poland 7-6(8),7-5 to make the men’s doubles event at Wimbledon was a graduation of sorts. The result meant they would make their first appearance as a pair at a major event.

“Treat and I played together all through college. So we know each other really well. We have had quite a lot of success in college and played some on the pro tour as well. It’s exciting to be at a Grand Slam with him. It’s a lot of fun to play with him as we know each other really well and he’s one of my best friends off the court as well,” said Somdev, who failed to get past the first round in the doubles event last year, losing to Mahesh Bhupathi and Mark Knowles.
