Soft opening of CWG Village on September 16

"Everything is in place and the Games Village is ready to welcome its residents."

Commonwealth Games Organising Committee said soft opening of the Games Village will be held on September 16,before the athletes actually start arriving from September 23 for the next month’s multi-discipline event in Delhi.

“Everything is in place and the Games Village is ready to welcome its residents. Its formal opening is scheduled to be held on September 23 when the contingents start arriving in Delhi,” OC Secretary General Lalit Bhanot said.

Bhanot assured that there were no electricity problem in the residential zone and also said the Village kitchen has already started working.

“The state-of-the-art Village kitchen has been installed and started functioning in the residential zone in the Games Village. The caterer,Delaware North,has already tested the equipment. The first meals will be served on Monday,September 13,” Bhanot said.
