Six policemen,eight militants killed in Daghestan

Six policemen and eight militants were killed today in two separate anti-insurgency operations in Russia’s restive Caucasus republic of Daghestan.

According to reports four security personnel were also injured in a special operation carried out by FSB security service.

“The active phase of special operation carried out near the village of Kostek in Khasavyurt district is over.

Six militants have been killed and their identity is being established,” Interfax reported quoting sources in FSB.

According to Investigation Committee of Russia four servicemen were killed and four injured in the course of operation to nab the perpetrators of last March’s twin suicide attacks in Moscow metro and other terrorist acts in the region.

Both the female suicide bombers of Moscow metro stations hailed from the Khasavyurt district and had links with the militants active in the area.

In a separate incident,two gunmen were killed after they refused police orders to pull over and opened fire on the officers,Gasanov said.

Two policemen died in further attacks,one in Dagestan and another in the nearby Kabardino-Balkaria province.
