Maverick England batsman Kevin Pietersen is likely to root for Force India in the Sunday8217;s British Grand Prix,Chairman of the Formula One outfit Vijay Mallya said.
With the team unveiling a new aero package for its home race,Mallya said British Grand Prix is quite a special event for the outfit and Pietersen,who briefly led the Mallya-owned Royal Challengers Bangalore team in the Indian Premier League,is likely to add sheen to the event.
8220;The World Twenty20 is on,so all my cricket friends are in the UK. Kevin Pietersen will probably attend 8211; as you know he plays for my team,8221; Mallya said.
8220;There will be a lot of people from India and South Africa,so I am looking forward to a good mix of all my business interests,8221; he added.
Force India will also be hosting a darts evening with Bobby George,the legendary British darts champion,throwing some arrows in the Force India motorhome on Saturday night.
Insisting it8217;s a special race for the team,Mallya said,8221;Absolutely,the home team is playing on the home ground. Because it8217;s home to us,Silverstone is special and we8217;re unveiling a new package for Silverstone. And hopefully we8217;ll get the improved performance out of the car and get to Q2 without difficulty.8221;
Force India is the one of six F1 teams that can claim the British GP as its home race but more than any outfit,its factory is located opposite the main gate of the Silverstone Circuit.
Asked how frustrating it was not to have scored points despite coming close to it more than once,Mallya said,8221;It8217;s so competitive now,and being so close is just part of the game. I would have loved to have had a point. We were just one place away in Monaco and also Australia,but there8217;s always the next race. One has to move on. Turkey was race number seven,there are still 10 more to go,and we8217;re not even half way through the season,8221; he added.
