It will be amazing if we can inflict a whitewash, says KP

Kevin Pietersen believes the current England team are better equipped to rule the world than the team who defeated the all-conquering Australians in 2005. Weve got a real good structure in place and great people in place as well, the management and players, there are a lot of mature players, Pietersen said.

You look at the number of games people have played, you look at the number of hundreds weve scored, look at the wickets the boys have started to take. We actually look like one of the senior teams in world cricket right now. Weve got all departments covered and as long as each individual, including the guys in the squad who arent playing at the moment, keep striving to get better well be okay.

He also said the teams burning ambition was to seal a 4-0 series win when the fourth Test starts at the Oval on Thursday. Its a target,a huge target because I played against Australia when we did get hammered 5-0 (in 2006-07) and its a horrible place to be, Pietersen added. So if we can inflict a similar defeat on India it would be amazing for us.

Team mate Stuart Broad also agreed they will strive to inflict complete whitewash on M S Dhonis men. There are a lot of challenges ahead of us,but the immediate one is to win this series 4-0, said Broad.

Broad revealed the great thing about their bowling unit was that they take pleasure in each others successes. What odds would you have got on India failing to reach 300 in six innings in the first three Tests with their array of batting superstars? The great thing about our bowling unit is that we genuinely take as much pleasure in each others successes as our own. Some people say they are disappointed that India havent made more of a fight of this series. Well, perhaps we havent allowed them to, he said.

He credited the Edgbaston win to a perfect team work but added his team had no right to win at Trent Bridge. Edgbaston was close to the perfect team performance. And in many ways we had no right to win at Trent Bridge after the first two days but India gave us a sniff and we piled in through the open door, the speedster said.
