Indias Olympic-bound ace discus thrower Vikas Gowda bagged the bronze medal after an impressive performance in the Grand Prix Diamond League Meetings in New York.
United States-based Gowda recorded 64.86m in his second of his six throws to finish third behind Zoltan Kovago of Hungary who came up with an effort of 66.36m and Yennifer Frank Casanas 65.21m of Spain.
Gowdas effort was below his personal best and national record of 66.28m,which he recorded in April, but it was nonetheless creditable as the event had some of the top performers of the season who are above him in IAAF rankings. Reigning Commonwealth champion Ben Harradine of Australia, who had beaten Gowda to second place in the Delhi Games in 2010,was seventh with an effort of 62.15m.
