Capitalism is immoral,undemocratic: Michael Moore

Michael Moore has targeted America's economic system,blaming it for the current global financial crisis.

The man who ridiculed former US President George W Bush in his documentary 8216;Fahrenheit 9/118242; is back again and this time Michael Moore has targeted America8217;s economic system,blaming it for the current global financial crisis.

The feisty documentary filmmaker was in his elements as he fielded questions from the media after the premiere of his latest work,8217;Capitalism,A Love Story8217;,at the 34th Toronto International Film Festival.

8220;Capitalism is immoral,unjust and undemocratic,8221; he said,summing up the core argument of his film,which launches a frontal attack on a profligate Wall Street.

8220;The American economy in general is responsible for the current global financial crisis8230; Other nations imitate its principles and come to grief. Capitalism is a system that legalises greed,8221; the 55-year-old filmmaker said.

In the US,he pointed out,1 per cent of the population has more wealth than the rest of the country put together.

Asked whether his combative brand of filmmaking is a commercial or personal choice,Moore said,8221;It is an artistic choice8230; When you reach for the mediocre,when you seek to make people comfortable about their condition,you are not doing your job as a filmmaker. If you go to a place where people already have a lot of discomfort,and remind them of their lot,you might come up with something of some worth.8221;
