Katich faces sanctions

MELBOURNE: Cricket Australia on Saturday said that former opener Simon Katich will face possible sanctions under its code of behavior for making detrimental public comment about his strained relationship with captain Michael Clarke. Cricket Australia chief executive James Sutherland said in a statement he was surprised and disappointed to see comments made by Katich. Katich said a dressing room altercation he had with then vice-captain Clarke following the Sydney Test against South Africa in 2009 would prevent him from ever playing again for Australia.

Bangladesh strike late

Dhaka: Bangladeshs spinners grabbed two late wickets with the second new ball to leave the final Test against the West Indies evenly poised after the opening day. West Indies were strongly placed at 226-3 before reaching 253-5 in their first innings at stumps,with Kirk Edwards unbeaten on 71 and Marlon Samuels 16 not out.

Ajmal sets up Pakistans win

DUBAI: Off-spinner Saeed Ajmal took his fourth five-wicket haul in Tests as Pakistan completed a nine-wicket win in the second Test against Sri Lanka on Saturday. Needing 94 for victory,opener Mohammad Hafeez remained unbeaten on 59. Pakistan lead by Ajmals five/68 bundled out Sri Lanka for 257 in their second innings.

Hussey steers Aus to victory

Durban: Mike Hussey steered Australia to a series-clinching three-wicket win in the third and final ODI against South Africa. Australia were on top for most of the match but lost wickets at vital times in chasing a modest target of 223. Hussey,though,stood firm,finishing the contest with a six off Morne Morkel.
