Anna stir a platform for communal forces

As the Congress launched a concerted attack on Anna Hazares anti-corruption movement,the latest entrant in the party,Rasheed Masood,who today resigned from the Rajya Sabha and also quit the Samajwadi Party to join the Congress,alleged that there was an attempt to build a political platform for communal forces in the name of corruption. Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh endorsed his stand stating that he has been saying this from the very beginning.

In the last three months,there has been politics in the name of corruption8230; Jaiprakash Narayan had also launched a movement against a Muslim chief minister Abdul Gafoor during whose tenure JP had led the students agitation,but no Muslim said that.

The Hisar elections proved that a political platform is being built to bring forward communal forces, Masood told reporters here,saying this was one of the reasons behind his decision to join the Congress.

Asked if he agreed with Masoods views that Annas movement is communal,Digvijaya Singh said,I have been saying this from the very beginning. So,it Masoods statement only adds to my contention.

The intent of all in Team Anna,Baba Ramdev and Sri Sri Ravishankar is political. Corruption is not the issue,their issue is how to create an environment against the Congress party, he said.

Suggesting that Team Anna is acting at the BJPs behest,Singh said,The BJPs gameplan has been to divert attention from Sangh members involved in terror activities. They dont see corruption in UP,Uttarakhand,Karnataka,Chhattisgarh and MP. Congress-ruled states and the UPA government are their target.

Union Minister Beni Prasad Verma said: The Opposition is scared of Rahul and Anna has become their spokesman,especially that of the RSS. Is he a laat sahab,let him come to UP polls8230; Anna is trying to scare Congress but we are not afraid of him. If he is 75,then Congress is 125 years old.

Said senior Congress leader Satyavrat Chaturvedi,His Annas word is not that of Lord Brahma. Is he Satyawadi Harishchandra,I do not agree with this.
