A 19-year-old man injured 10 people,three seriously,after throwing Molotov cocktails in a school in Germany on Thursday,before being overpowered by police,authorities said.
“The attacker has been arrested,is injured and is on the way to hospital,” a spokesman for Nuremberg police,Peter Grimm,told rolling news channel N24.
The incident took place at a secondary school of 600-700 pupils in Ansbach near Nuremberg in southern Germany. The injured included both pupils and teachers and the suspected attacker attended the same school,Grimm said.
Authorities are on high alert in Germany after a school shooting in the town of Winnenden in March,when 17-year-old Tim Kretschmer shot dead 15 people before dying in a shoot-out with police.
There have been several warnings of copycat shootings since,with armed police evacuating schools on several occasions.
In May,a 16-year-old girl was arrested after arriving at a school wearing a mask and armed with several knives,an air gun and a rucksack full of bottles of flammable liquid.
