ROHTAK, May 6: Deputy Commissioner-cum-chairman Anil Kumar, of the Model School dismissed the services of S. S. Ahlawat principal and K. S. Khanna secretary for issuing transfer certificates to students who failed in the final examination, but were shown as having passed the examination.

According to sources Ahlawat and Khanna refused to accept the letters, yesterday.

The Deputy Commissioner-cum-chairman had ordered an enquiry vide order number 226/st dated April 7. Additional Deputy Commissioner Anand Mohan Sharan was appointed enquiry officer.

Sharan in his report had said that the principal in his letter number 22648/adc/1/98 dated April 10, had accepted that 8220;certificates to 33 students, out of 79 failed students, have been issued this time after proper discussion with the Secretary manager, administrator of school, vice-principal and controller of examination8221;.

The principal also stated that before he joined as principal in 1997 there was a practice to issue pass certificates to students who had failed but expressed their desire to leave the school.

Ahlawat further said that he fought against this practice.

The enquiry officer mentioned in his report that at no stage, the principal took permission either verbal or in writing of the chairman regarding issuing of these certificates.

The chairman, in his letter, said that his explanation was not satisfactory, therefore his services were being terminated with immediate effect.All efforts to contact Ahalawat and Khanna failed as it was learnt that they were away to Chandigarh.
