Booze-loving Prince Harry has been slammed by medics and anti-alcohol campaigners in Britain for snorting Vodka in a potentially lethal drinking game.
The 23-year-old Prince was captured on video inhaling a bottle cap full of the neat spirit through his nose while on holiday with girlfriend Chelsy Davy, The Sun reported on Saturday.
Professor Ian Gilmore, the President of Royal College of Physicians, told the British tabloid that snorting alcohol meant it was absorbed directly through the lungs bypassing the liver. 8220;This could kill.8221;
In fact, in the footage, Harry was seen covering his right nostril with his finger before taking a huge sniff through the other. He then threw back his head to take the full hit of the drink and reeled in shock.
8220;There is nothing cool or glamorous about snorting alcohol. The medical view is clear. Taking alcohol up the nose increases the risk of direct alcohol damage to the brain,8221; Alcohol Concern8217;s Frank Soodeen was quoted as saying.
The video was made last November as Harry, Chelsy and more than 20 pals canoed down the Orange River on holiday in Namibia where they chose to play the lethal drinking game.
Even a Royal source said Harry8217;s commanders would not be amused at his antics. 8220;This is not exactly behaviour becoming of an officer,8221; he said.
Harry has long been dogged by claims that his drinking is out of control. In April, he was pictured falling over outside a club in Mayfair here.
However, a spokesman for the Prince said: 8220;We have no comment to make. This is a private matter.8221;
