The Eden Gardens, where the Indian Premier League match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Deccan Chargers was being played, plunged into near-darkness after a power cut leading to a brief suspension of the match.
Power went off at 1902 hours at a crucial stage of the match and remained cut off for 24 minutes.
The managing director of the Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation, Sumantra Sen, said that it was not possible to say if it was their fault or due to some internal problem of the Eden Gardens.
The CESC executive director, D Sen, later said that there was no fault on their part. Power supply to all towers was continuous with normal voltage.
Power came back at 7.26 pm and the play resumed soon after.
