In a rather amusing event during the week amidst all the crisis with the Left, Minister of State for Power Jairam Ramesh arrived somewhat late to the nuclear debate and is believed to have shot off a letter to Sonia Gandhi providing a detailed account of the state of India8217;s nuclear power plants, their falling capacity, uranium shortage and on how the N-deal was vital in this context. While Sonia Gandhi has been adequately briefed on the issue on several occasions by the PMO, Ramesh has taken special interest in the matter after becoming a minister a couple of months ago. To his surprise, the Left issued a statement after two days, accusing the government of creating a situation of uranium shortage. Was this a mere coincidence?
