
NEW DELHI, December 8: Abdul Sattar 47 and Priyank Gupta 42 helped Poorvanchal XI from Varanasi move into the next round of Davinder Singh memorial tournament beating Goswami Ganesh Dutt by five wickets at Harbaksh Singh Stadium. Batting first, G G Dutt made 176, thanks to an unbeaten 44 by Vikas Katyal. Dev Dutt Tewari 3-26, Dharmender Mishra 2-39 and Arun Pandey 2-37 shared the spoils. The Varanasi team reached the target in 37.1 overs for the loss of five wickets.
Abdul Sattar and Priyank Gupta batted sensibly to take the team on road to victory. Dharmender Mishra 33 and Saroj Rai 29 contributed useful scores to make things smooth for the team. Ashwani Anand was the most successful bowler for G G Dutt, claiming two wickets for 23 runs.
On Wednesday, Indian Airlines will play Poorvanchal XI at Jamia Millia grounds.
