Policemen deployed to prevent ragging

CHANDIGARH, Aug 1: The police force is being deployed in and around the educational institutions to prevent ragging from tomorrow.

Official sources said that police personnel will be deployed in Punjab Engineering College, PU, DAV College, MCM College, Government Home Science College and all government colleges besides a few others. While a PCR gypsy will move around various colleges, personnel will be stationed at points suggested by the respective college principals. Force is also being drawn from other police stations to meet the requirement.

Recently a meeting was held between the police officials and college principals in which the latter had sought police deployment at the beginning of the session to prevent ragging in their institutions. The incidents of ragging are mainly reported from the professional colleges.
