BANGALORE, June 26: Bangalore City Police Chief, L Revannasiddaiah, has announced a series of measures to check the rising rate of crime in the garden city. Barricades have been set up and armed pickets posted in various crime-prone areas. A strike force has been deployed to apprehend gangs of criminals on the move. There has been a rash of murders, dacoities and chain snatchings in the city since the beginning of the year, but Revannasiddaiah was quick to point out that it was only the detection rate that had gone up and not the crime rate, in comparision to other years.
