There is no trace yet of the two-year-old son of CM Mulayam Singh Yadav8217;s distant relative. The toddler, Shubham, was allegedly kidnapped from his residence by the domestic help on Saturday.

The police carried out raids and detained two persons suspected of having links with the abductor. Shubham was taken out for an evening stroll by the servant Prabhat 8212; there has been no word since then.

A day after the kidnapping, state police chief V.K.V. Nair lashed out at mediapersons in Lucknow and claimed that the kidnapped child was not a relative of the CM. 8216;8216;Check up your facts. This link with Mulayam is a media creation,8217;8217; he said.

Sources said the police swung into action last night after the CM held a meeting with senior officials. Special teams were formed and senior officials rushed to Etawah to supervise the efforts being made by the police to trace the missing kid. Mulayam8217;s elder brother rushed to the residence of the victim today.

Akhilesh Yadav, who worked as a supervisor with the victim8217;s father and Chhote Lal, who recommended Prashant to the victim8217;s father have been detained.
