IT recently featured on the cover of Time courtesy its status as a rage across the world. And now, with the portable digital music player8217;s official launch here, the Apple iPod gets ready to assume the role of the ubiquitous, urban trinket.

More so with its latest version. The fourth generation magical music box features Apple8217;s Click Wheel, which has the continuous scrolling of a touch-sensitive wheel for superior one-handed navigation.

The new iPod also features up to 12 hours battery life. Then there8217;s Shuffle Songs, a new command in the main menu that gives users instant, serendipitous access to their music library.

No wonder, then, that its ever-increasing fan base includes Shah Rukh Khan and Sachin Tendulkar. The latter is rarely seen off the field without the white delight, available at Apple centres in the metros.

The Pod also has Auto-Sync tech that can automatically download an entire digital music library whenever it is plugged into a Mac or Windows computer using FireWire or USB. Users can transfer two songs per second from their computer. The new 20GB comes for Rs 22,100, while the 40GB iPod costs about Rs 27,000. The 4GB iPod Mini retails for Rs 20,700.
