Poachers convicted

Two of the six accused in one of the biggest wildlife seizures were convicted and sentenced to six years of rigorous imprisonment by a chief judicial magistrate court here on Monday.

Two of the six accused in one of the biggest wildlife seizures were convicted and sentenced to six years of rigorous imprisonment by a chief judicial magistrate court here on Monday.

Two inter-state gangs were caught with five tiger skeletons, one tiger skin, four leopard skins, about 70 kg of antlers and a big stock of tiger claws and teeth from a petrol pump near here and from a prominent city hotel on March 21, 2001.

The total worth of the seized material was several crores of rupees.
