PMK chief meets Sonia

Pattali Makkal Katchi PMK leader S Ramadoss on Friday called on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi to apprise them of the party8217;s stance on the issue of exclusion of creamy layer from OBC quota in elite educational institutions. Ramadoss told the PM and Sonia that the creamy layer must not be excluded from OBC quota. The PMK leader8217;s move came a day after the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs reportedly decided to implement the OBC quota while exploring options on the issue of creamy layer, which has to be excluded as per the Supreme Court8217;s recent ruling. Ramadoss later said the PM assured him that he would discuss the creamy layer issue at various levels in order to find a solution, though the implementation will start this year. He also drew the attention of the PM to the frequent attacks on Tamil Nadu fishermen by the Sri Lankan Navy and requested the government to take measures to stop it.
