Prime Minister A.B. Vajpayee on Monday said he did not know much about fashion shows but could see that ‘‘dhire-dhire sharir par kapde kam ho rahe hain’’. He said the country was now exporting clothes; ‘‘our clothes are now competing with the best in the world’’. But though there is no shortage of clothes in the country, ‘‘gradually people are wearing less clothes’’. The PM also brought up the ‘‘tremendous progress in food security’’ under the NDA government. He said no longer were there reports of starvation deaths in the country but the day is not far when people will read in newspapers that some people have died of excessive eating. — (PTI)
