
Owing to a 8216;8216;problem in his eye,8217;8217; Prime Minister A.B. Vajpayee8217;s reply in Lok Sabha on the motion of thanks to the President8217;s address has been postponed to March 3, next Monday. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said, 8216;8216;Vajpayee has some problem in his eye. So his reply would now come on Monday.8217;8217; Vajpayee will be replying to the discussion in the Rajya Sabha next Tuesday, she added.
The Prime Minister was to convene an all party meeting on Monday where Swaraj had proposed a discussion on the Women8217;s Reservation Bill to arrive at a consensus on the issue. The all party meeting has been postponed to March 6.
The Ayodhya debate was originally scheduled for February 26, but was rescheduled for February 27 by the Speaker, to be held after the Prime Minister8217;s reply originally scheduled for 12 noon. It was felt that Vajpayee8217;s reply would have covered the issue of Ayodhya as well as it was referred to in the President8217;s address. It was also felt that the Prime Minister8217;s reply, when it comes on Monday, would have included any opinion on the discussion being held today in the Lok Sabha.
Discussion on the Railway Budget will be taken up on March 4 and March 5 while the debate on the General Budget have been scheduled for March 6, 7 and 10, Swaraj said after a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee. The Finance Minister is expected to reply to the debate on March 11. Short duration discussions have been scheduled for March 12 and 13 on atrocities on Dalits and drought.
