
AMBALA, MARCH 16: Planned strategy is the sine qua non for competitive marketing in these days, stated S.R. Oswal, chairman, Vardhman Spinning and General Mills Limited, Ludhiana, while delivering his key note address at the third national-level seminar on strategies for competitive advantage organised by S.A. Jain Institute of Management and Technology here yesterday.
He said that presently the Indian economy was gripped with recession and there were so many management institutes mushrooming in the northern region during the last couple of year. The result was, he observed, that every institute was facing the problem regarding placement of students. He stressed the need to impart practical training to students so that they could compete with the competitive world.
Azhar Kazmi, a renowned academician from Aligarh University, who mainly dwelt upon the details of competitive advantage, building strategic capabilities and the response from Indian corporate sector, presented his theory by quoting examples from Indian companies, said that competitive advantage could be had through the route of buildings strategic advantages in this modern era of high technology.
R.K. Jain retd emphasised on the role of human resource development to gain competitive advantage. The deputy director of institute, while presenting the detailed report, including the future plans, like introduction of various courses in the institute, new campus construction etc. stated that in the year 1991 different companies entered in India to provide the opportunity to further develop the economic growth rate. Many of them had put up their units on Ambala-Chandigarh highway, near Ambala town.
