A plane carrying up to 70 passengers crashed on take-off at Goma in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo on Tuesday, a UN spokesman in the central African country said.

“It is a plane from the company Hewa Bora with 60 to 70 passengers on board,” Kemal Saiki, spokesman for the UN mission in Congo, told Reuters. He said the plane appeared to have come down on a business or residential area.
