
PANCHKULA, Aug 5: Another accused in the Pinjore rape case, Ravi, surrendered in the court here today.
Meanwhile, the Ambala Sessions Court today dismissed the bail plea filed by Amit, another accused in the case, and directed that since the plea did not apply in the said Court, Amit should seek bail at the Juvenile Court as he is less than 16 years of age. Amit, a resident of Pinjore, was sent to police remand until August 7 after he surrendered yesterday.
HUDA removes 12 hoardings n Continuing with its drive to remove hoardings from the different sectors of the township, HUDA removed 12 hoardings from the main roads today.
The drive started late in the evening and could not pick up momentum because of the inadequacy of staff. The drive, which began on Tuesday, has been launched as per the directions of the Punjab and Haryana High Court. Around 112 hoardings have been removed from different parts of the township in the past three days.
The drive to round up stray cattle could not take off today. It is expected to commence tommorow.
300 examined at free eye camp
The Upkaar Society, Panchkula, organised a free eye camp at the Government Senior Secondary School in Sector 7 here today. According to Seema Chawla, the official spokesperson of the society, around 300 students were examined by Dr S.K. Nijhawan at the camp. Free medicines were also distributed at the camp and spectacles for needy students will also be made and distributed free of cost.
Two injured in car-bus collision
Two persons were injured in a bus-car collision on the Sector 4 and 5 dividing road here today. The Ramgarh bound bus hit the car being driven by R.K. Arora. Arora and his woman companion were injured in the accident.The police have registered a case and further investigations are on.
