CHANDIGARH, Feb 9: The faculty members of the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research are planning to go on a token strike to press for the implementation of the recommendations of the Baxi Committee, with some modifications.

A meeting of the PGI Faculty Association, today, discussed the outcome of the talks with Human Resource and Development Minister Murli Manohar Joshi. The meeting also deliberated on the day for holding a token strike. Although there was resolution for holding a token strike but the date for the same has not been decided yet. Another meeting to decide the date will be held by the association tomorrow.

Dr Ajit Awasthi of the Faculty Association said, quot;it is not an easy decision for us, rather it is a painful one, for this will result in our work suffering.quot; Yesterday8217;s report in the paper inadvertently mentioned that the delegation of the PGI Faculty Association met Union Health Minister Dalit Izahmalai. The delegation met Union Human Resource and Development Minister Murli Manohar Joshi.
