Paths, langars mark Gurpurb

CHANDIGARH, May 29: The martyrdom day of Guru Arjan Dev, the 17th century Sikh Guru, was observed in various gurdwaras of the city today.Thousands of devotees thronged the gurdwaras to attend akhand paths. Langars were also organised in the gurdwaras.

At Gurdwara Gur Sagar Sahib, Sant Pritpal Singh recited the bani of the Guru through discourses and shabad kirtan and enlightened the devotees on the teachings of the Guru, according to a press release issued here. Arrangements of sweet water (chhabeels) were also made at several places in the city.

At a sabha held in Palsora, Gurbachan Singh, a senior Congress leader, paid glowing tributes to the Guru, according to a press release issued here today by Chandigarh Territorial Congress Committee.
