SHIMLA, June 2: The traffic on Kalka-Shimla railway section remained suspended today for more then 5 hours following a blockade by the passengers of Holiday Special train in protest against successive engine failure of the train at Koti Railway Station here.

The passenger travails started with the failure of the Tourist Special at Guman Railway Station at about 10:30 am. A replacement for the broken down locomotive, which was sent from Kalka at 1.10 pm, also broke down after travelling a distance of 5 km up to Koti station.

The tourists felt deeply aggrieved when they discovered that the Koti station did not even have facilities like benches and tea stall at the platform.

Soon it was the turn of the passengers of the Holiday Special. They lifted some railway sleepers which were lying nearby and put them in front of the locomotive, eyewitnesses said.

Sources said the situation became so tense that the Station Master, Koti, was forced to call the Railway Police from Taksal railway station.Meanwhile, the Holiday Special ultimately moved on when another train engine reached Koti at least an hour later.
