Security for candidates in Tripura
AGARTALA: Tripura government has decided to provide personal security to candidates contesting Lok Sabha elections as well as poll observers in the state. It will also deploy adequate security forces in vulnerable areas for smooth conduct of elections.
DMK on Sonia
CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karuna-nidhi on Tuesday said Sonia Gandhi’s campaign for the Congress would in no way affect the DMK-TMC front in the state, and would actually benefit the United Front parties. “Any campaign against communalism is bound to help us,” he said.

NEW DELHI: Former Prime Minister Chandra Shekhar on Tuesday strongly opposed formation of coalition governments with outside support and derided regional parties trying to dominate at the Centre “without people’s support”.
