Leader of the separatist group, the Khalistan Commando Force, 41-year-old Paramjit is wanted for reviving the Sikh insurgency, murder, conspiracy and smuggling arms.

He is also wanted for the murder of former army chief General A S Vaidya and for the country8217;s biggest bank robbery in Ludhiana.

Paramjit belongs to the village of Panjwar, near Tarn Taran. Until 1986, when he joined the Khalistan Commando Force, he worked at the Central Cooperative Bank in Sohal. In 1986, he joined the KCF, whose commander 8211; and his cousin 8211; Labh Singh was a major influence on him.

Shortly after taking charge of the KCF in the 1990s following elimination of its commander, one-time police constable 8216;General8217; Labh Singh, Panjwar left for Pakistan and is still believed to be keeping the KCF alive by raising funds through cross-border heroin trafficking with the help of top Punjab smugglers like Bhola Thanthian and Pargat Singh Narli. His wife and children are said to have relocated themselves in Germany.

Ten FIRs have been registered against Paramjit from 1989 to 1990, including seven counts of murder and two under TADA.
